We have been welcoming students of all ages & abilities to the first dedicated yoga studio in Portsmouth since we first opened our doors in 2012, and we are proud to be an integral part of the independent and creative cultural hub that is Albert Road, where established our community in 2014.

As local residents and teachers who are actively involved in our local community, we welcome you to a warm, spacious & fully equipped studio: we provide everything that you need to relax into your practice, there are no hidden costs for use of mats or any other equipment.

Our philosophy

Yoga for us is about feeling better. Our classes. are designed to introduce you to your personal practice within the group. We hold true to the traditional philosophies of Yoga and create practices that are nurturing & nourishing, no matter whether this is your first class or you have an established practice.

We believe in supporting you to find a calm, positive outlook on life in class and off the mat: at the end of your practice, you will feel replenished & ready to live your life to the full. There are no gimmicks at Portsmouth Yoga Studio, only dedicated teachers who will encourage you to explore this ancient practice in a way that is sustainable and has long lasting benefits to your physical, mental & emotional health.

Our Teachers

We have a diverse group of core teachers who between them have over 40 years experience of practising yoga and over 26 years of teaching experience. We share a common background in our training, and have all furthered our knowledge & insight with further study.

Lucy & Donna are both registered as Senior Yoga Teachers with Yoga Alliance Professionals, allowing them to create & offer innovative Teacher Training and CPD, and have already trained over 12 teachers to begin their own successful careers in sharing the joy & peace of yoga, Sam qualified with Lucy & Donna in 2016, and holds the RYT200 with Yoga Alliance International, and has quickly established himself as a well-respected teacher in the local area.

Lucy began teaching in Southsea in 2005, and since then has also qualified in Perinatal Yoga for Pregnancy and the Post Natal Period with the Birthlight Trust, and in Yoga Therapy with the Devon School of Yoga.  She integrates her understanding & practice of therapeutic approaches, Iyengar, Ashtanga and Kundalini into her teaching, creating a blend that she calls Lucid Yoga. Students will learn to calm their minds, open their hearts and love their bodies under Lucy's compassionate guidance.

Donna has studied anatomy & intelligent movement with Natural Bodies, and her in-depth understanding of the human body underpins her approach to bringing her students to a practice that brings them ease and confidence in their yoga and in daily life.

Sam takes a traditional stance to providing a disciplined & well-rounded practice that is accessible to all. Students will experience a balance of strength and flexibility as they explore yoga under Sam's guidance, In learning from Sam, you will acquire more than a simply physical practice, and feel equipped for life off the mat.
